...Bravo to the School and to all those who have carried the ‘flag' for this very special place to study. Bravo to Directors over the years and to tutors and staff who for 50 years have shaped the training programmes for students. Thank you to current Director Garry Trinder and his wonderful staff today who gave us this evening of dance. Congratulations and best wishes to those graduating in this year. ...It is a stunning achievement to use parts of the dancers’ bodies, beautifully lit, as nano units of life force, and then thread these as metaphor into life at the level of society and community. This is a work that could be performed by any school or company, classical or contemporary dancers. Now there’s something for every choreographer to aspire to, since that’s nearer the reality of the dance profession today...

... both the opening night and Saturday matinee confirmed that NZSD is continuing to produce excellent dancers… and choreographers. Appropriately for a major anniversary program, many of the works presented were by NZSD graduates....

The New Zealand School of Dance has traditionally held a highly regarded graduation programme, and this year’s was the grandest we’ve seen, with the school celebrating its 50th anniversary.
   Held at the St James Theatre, opening night saw Governor-General HE Dame Patsy Reddy attend, along with former Royal New Zealand Ballet artistic director Francesco Ventriglia.

Held at the St James Theatre, opening night saw Governor-General HE Dame Patsy Reddy attend, along with former Royal New Zealand Ballet artistic director Francesco Ventriglia. Members of the RNZB performed alongside NZSD students and graduates, demonstrating the close links between the two organizations...
